Olya

Project Overview
Olya uses VR and AI, together with healthcare providers, to bring a comprehensive mental health evaluation to the patient’s home and to make the results legible to the person who receives them. I designed the full mobile experience: the AI-generated report, the MyChart integration, and a design system built from scratch in collaboration with Maxwell Brooks.
Challenge
A comprehensive mental health evaluation can cost $3,000 out of pocket, so most people who need one never get it. Those who do are often left confused about what comes next. The problem is not only access, it is what happens after. There was also no precedent for delivering AI-generated clinical results directly to patients, so I had no pattern library to borrow from. Three principles governed every screen: trustworthiness, transparency, and information hierarchy.

Results
I tested the prototype with 7 participants and reviewed it with 3 professionals. Three findings changed the design:
The AI chat felt tacked on.
The prescription action needed a second confirmation, because a single tap was too easy to trigger on something with real consequences.
Patients need a way to reach a real person at any point.
The design system (TT Commons Pro Variable, Midnight Green, Powder Blue, Ash Grey) holds those principles across the report and the MyChart integration. Testing with patients and feedback from professionals shaped the confirmation flow and the role of the AI chat.
