Silo

Project Overview
Silo is a generative redesign of Google Reviews, prototyped entirely in After Effects. The premise is that reviewing a place should feel like remembering, not filling out a form. Motion is the primary interface logic: the path on screen represents your day, and the lines that multiply as you type represent your emotion taking shape.
Challenge
How might we evolve review sharing into something more emotional and resonant? A star rating and a text box capture whether you liked a place, but not what it was like to be there. I worked from a competitive audit to hand-drawn concepts to a fully animated prototype. [One sentence on what you found in the audit, if there is something specific.] Early on, photo upload was part of the concept. I cut it, and audio, haptics, and motion became the input modes. The constraint moved the concept toward what it feels like to have been somewhere, not what it looked like.

Results
The result is a fully animated prototype of a review flow that works without photos, text boxes, or star ratings. In 3.5 weeks, I took Silo from a competitive audit and hand-drawn concepts to a finished After Effects prototype, using AI-generated motion in 2024 to explore how a line could take shape as someone types. The main finding came from cutting photos. Without them, motion and haptics had to carry the whole experience, and the review became about what it felt like to be somewhere, not what it looked like. Silo is a speculative prototype and has not been tested with users.
